Momo’s Café is a family owned business, run by the Melendrez family. The patriach, Manuel Melendrez, came to the United States from Mexico in 1973, and got a job washing dishes at the Burlingame Hyatt Regency hotel. Manuel was paying close attention in the kitchen and learned how to prepare all the items on the menu. He ultimately was given the opportunity to cook breakfasts at the hotel.
Melendrez worked in the Hyatt kitchen for 23 years before opening his own breakfast and lunch restaurant in South San Francisco.
